Diamond Leader

Chris Diamond- Chief Executive Officer

Chris Diamond serves as Chief Executive Officer, bringing to the role more than 25 years of distinguished experience in the behavioral healthcare industry.

As the leader of Sunspire Health and its network of 9 facilities, Chris focuses on providing the direction and platform on which high quality, evidence-based clinical care and a client-first standard is met at each location. His vision for offering comprehensive, substantive treatment for Sunspire Health's clients is only matched by his commitment to creating a corporate culture that is equally impressive.

He joins Sunspire Health from Remuda Ranch, a Meadows Behavioral Healthcare program, where he served as CEO. Chris began as Executive Director at Remuda Ranch in 2013 until his promotion to CEO in 2015. Prior to Remuda Ranch at The Meadows, he served as CEO for Sonora Behavioral Health Hospital, a comprehensive behavioral health facility located in Tucson serving adolescents and adults, and CEO of Heritage Oaks Hospital, the largest behavioral health provider in the greater Sacramento region. Previously, he served as CEO and COO since 2007 for four treatment programs located in Arizona, California, Texas, and Kentucky. From 1991 through 2006, he held numerous clinical service and leadership positions.

Arnold Leader

Keith Arnold- Chief Marketing Officer

Keith is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in the field of addiction and behavioral healthcare. He is dedicated to bringing out the best in people and has found the past two decades he has worked in addiction recovery to be the most rewarding years of his career. 

Before joining Sunspire Health, Keith was the Sr. VP of Clinical Outreach, Marketing and Strategic Development at Elements Behavioral Health, where he successfully led a national team of 26 outreach members, co-coordinated the strategic onboarding of new facilities, oversaw brand development, and contributed to the expansion of the company’s programs. Prior to joining Elements, he was Executive Director of Sierra Tucson, which he joined in 1995 as Director of Marketing. Under his leadership, Sierra Tucson expanded four-fold and gained recognition as one of the most successful hospitals of its kind in the country at that time. 

Keith received a degree in Psychology with a concentration in Business from Rollins College in Florida and began his career as the Director of Client Services for an international management consulting firm. 

Gillis Leader

Michael Gillis, MSW- Vice President of Clinical Services

Michael Gillis, COO, brings to Sunspire Health more than 20 years of experience in the field of addiction and mental health treatment, including inpatient, residential and outpatient settings, as well as Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services. Nationally recognized in the areas of clinical program development, marketing communications, mergers and acquisitions, operations, and staff development, Michael brings a passion for excellence to all areas of treatment intervention and champions continual investment in human capital.

Prior to joining Sunspire, Michael served as Executive Director of Lifeskills South Florida, Director of Admissions and Marketing for Bridges to Recovery in Los Angeles, and worked as a family therapist with the Renaissance Institute of Boca Raton, Florida. He was also an EAP Consultant for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority of Boston.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Merrimack College and a Master of Social Work degree from Boston University's School of Social Work.

Reinbach Leader

Cynthia Reinbach, M.S.- Executive Director

Cynthia Reinbach, Executive Director of Sunspire Health Astoria Pointe and Sunspire Health The Rosebriar, brings 29 years of well-rounded and diverse executive management experience, specializing in psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment. Prior to this role, Cynthia served as VP of Clinical Services for CRC Health group, and VP of Operations for eGetgoing (a division of CRC) for 15 years, overseeing all aspects of counseling services and product development. She also worked as Executive Director, and Chief Clinical Officer in treatment programs throughout California. Her passion and focus is helping individuals and families living with the disease of chemical dependency. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Master of Science in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from San Jose State University.

Williamson Leader

Merle Williamson, MD- Medical Director

Rd. Merle Williamson is an addiction medicine specialist with three decades in practice. As Sunspire Health Astoria Pointe's Medical Director, he oversees the medically supervised detoxification and treatment programs to ensure they meet or exceed the most rigorous clinical standards. Rd. Williamson received his medical degree from the Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine, and completed his residency at the University of Connecticut.

Horey Leader

Jonathan Horey, MD- Chief Medical Officer

As CMO, Dr. Jonathan Horey serves as the steward of Sunspire Health's treatment method. In this role, he ensures each client receives the highest quality clinical care, using holistic, evidence and abstinence-based therapies, supported by medication assisted treatment, across all facilities nationwide.

After graduating medical school at Columbia University in New York City, Dr. Horey worked as an attending psychiatrist at a dual diagnosis inpatient unit at New York Presbyterian Hospital and at a dual diagnosis intensive outpatient program for Columbia University. He then became the Medical Director of Addiction Services at the Columbia University West 51st Street Clinic and maintained a private practice focused on addiction. He also served as a psychiatrist at Hazelden Springbrook, an addiction treatment facility in Portland before joining the Sunspire Health executive team.

In addition to his role with the executive team, Dr. Horey serves clients at Sunspire's Astoria Pointe and The Rosebriar facilities, maintains a small private practice in Portland and is in psychoanalytic training at the Oregon Psychoanalytic Institute.

Clelland Leader

Shellie Clelland- Director of Admissions

Shellie Clelland started her career in the field of chemical dependency eleven years ago. During her seven year tenure with Sunspire Health facilities Astoria Pointe, The Rosebriar, and Desert Palms, Shellie and her team have led the process of guiding new patients through the admission process and entry into treatment using her extensive knowledge of insurance coverage and utilization review. Prior to her work with Sunspire Health, Shellie worked with Nationwide Referral Services, Outreach Services and Drug and Alcohol Rehab Services. She is certified in Intervention Integration Methodology and Referrals.

Scott Leader

Christine Scott- Human Resources/Finance Coordinator

Christine Scott brings nearly 10 years of financial experience to her position as Finance Coordinator at Astoria Pointe. In this role, she streamlines the payment process for our patients, making sure that all insurance paperwork is processed quickly and efficiently.

Warnecke Leader

Courtney Warnecke- Director of Operations

As Director of Operations for Sunspire Health Astoria Pointe and Sunspire Health The Rosebriar, Courtney oversees housekeeping, maintenance, nutritional services and human resources. Courtney Warnecke began her healthcare career over a decade ago in special projects. In this role, she partnered with OHSU to bring specialty services, to the coast. These services included a Women's Center, Orthopedics, Cardiology Clinic, and a Cancer and Infusion Center. Outside of the office, she is completing her Psychology degree, specializing in Addiction, volunteers with at risk youth, is very active in the community and is the mother to three teenagers.

McNett Leader

Mike McNett- Director of Nursing

As Director of Nursing for Sunspire Health Astoria Pointe and Sunspire Health The Rosebriar, Michael brings a wealth of experience to the role. Michael was raised in the Eugene, Oregon area, and graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in Mass Communication. He later earned an associate degree in Nursing from Lane Community College in Eugene. After working in the field for several years, Mike obtained a BS in Anesthesiology. Following a 25 year career as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with Kaiser Permanente, he became interested in the field of Recovery Medicine and obtained a position with Sunspire Health. Michael's love and passion for the work that is done for our patients is evident is all that he does. In his own words, "Working on the floor, sharing the hopefulness that comes with recovery, is why I show up for work every day." In his non-work time he is an avid guitar player, loves music, and motorcycles. He also has a really great (dry) sense of humor that he uses when he works with his patient that brings an overall great spirit to the facility.

John Nekic, MBA- Executive Director

As Executive Director of Sunspire Health Desert Palms, John oversees the financial performance, operations and strategic direction of the center, striving to continually improve productivity and efficiency to offer the highest quality treatment for patients. John is an energetic leader and a creative problem solver who has a proven performance record of executing plans, optimizing operations and leading his team to achieve outstanding results. Having earned his MBA from the University of Phoenix and a B.A. in Psychology from Cleveland State University, John has over two decades of experience in leaderships roles at behavioral healthcare providers throughout the United States. He draws on this vast experience to ensure that Desert Palms is able to continue providing exceptional clinical care and services to patients.

Wilmoth Leader

Bryan Wilmoth, CATC III- Director of Outpatient Services

Bryan Wilmoth is the Director of Outpatient Services at Sunspire Health Palm Desert IOP with two decades of experience working with those suffering with substance use disorders. Prior to this role, he acted as program director of Rainbow Bridge Community Services, Inc., as a substance abuse counselor at Frank's House, and as a treatment advocate at Tarzana Treatment Center, providing individualized counseling and treatment programs for patients dealing with HIV, substance use disorders, and co-occurring mental health disorders. In 2007, Bryan received the Warrior Award from the City of West Hollywood for his dedication to the recovery community and his service on the Sacramento Ryan White Planning Council, AIDS Project Los Angeles panel, and City of West Hollywood's Alternative Meth Treatment Forum. He earned a B.A. in Social Work from California State University, Los Angeles and is a CAADE Certified Addictions Treatment Counselor III.

Drummond Leader

Brett Drummond, RADT-I- Director of Admissions

As Director of Admissions, Brett Drummond is the first person patients interact with as they begin their journey to recovery at Sunspire Health Desert Palms. In this role, Brett is responsible for overseeing the admissions process, managing utilization review and referrals for admission at Desert Palms. With seven years of experience in the field of substance abuse treatment, his passion for helping individuals who are seeking treatment for substance use disorders motivates him each day. He began his career in addiction treatment as a chemical dependency technician at the Hazelden Betty Ford Center, working primarily with young adults in recovery. Brett advanced to management positions by leading fellow staff members to strive for a patient-driven approach to care, believing that the patient and their needs is top priority in treatment.

Andersen Leader

Jeff Andersen, CADC-CS, ICCS, ICADC- Director of Operations

As the Director of Operations, Jeff Anderson ensures that Sunspire Health Desert Palms is operating in accordance with the state licensing and accreditation standards. Jeff values the important role that environment has in recovery and cultivates a positive psychology approach to care at the facility to promote patient healing. He is active in the local recovery community and leads groups on Motivation for Change to guide people in recovery to continue on their path to self-betterment. Jeff is an internationally certified clinical supervisor through the IC&RC and the CCAPP and received his Associate of Arts in Psychology from the College of the Desert.

Stafford Leader

Steve Stafford, LVN- Director of Nursing

Steve Stafford is the Director of Nursing, responsible for supervising the nursing department and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management at Sunspire Health Desert Palms. His job is vital to the care and health of patients receiving treatment at Desert Palms, and as such, he has a high regard for patient safety. Steve is effective in executing operations plans, implementing policies and care standards, and leading staff to achieve goals to improve quality of care at the facility. In addition to his leadership within the nursing department of Desert Palms, Steve is active in the Palm Springs recovery community. He received his Vocational Nursing Degree at the College of the Desert.

Wynne Leader

Jonathan Wynne- Director of Clinical Outreach

Jonathan Wynne, Sunspire Health Desert Palms' Director of Clinical Outreach, is responsible for developing and maintaining referral sources on a national level, while also generating referrals from clinicians and other sources. Prior to this role, Jonathan was a National Outreach Liaison for PRIDE Institute in Eden Prairie, MN and a Principal Partner for Premier Merchant Services in California, where he managed operations, sales, and marketing. He also acted as Recruitment Manager, Training and Development Manager, and Director of Operations for Merchant Services Inc. in Irvine, CA., and earned his Associate of Arts degree from Los Angeles Harbor College in Wilmington, CA.

Lemarie-Griffith Leader

Dawn(DJ) Lemarie-Griffith, MEd, LPC- Primary Therapist

DJ Lemaire-Griffith is a Primary Therapist at Desert Palms, responsible for counseling patients and guiding them through the recovery process. Prior to this role, DJ provided crisis counseling and conducted diagnostic and Alcohol and Other Drug Assessments for Rescue Mental Health Inc. in Toledo, OH. She also acted as a school counselor intern in Pemberville, OH where she provided individual and group counseling. DJ is a Licensed Professional Counselor and earned both her bachelor's degree in psychology and MEd from Bowling Green State University.

 Martinez Leader

Michelle Martinez, CADC-CAS- Milieu Manager

Michelle Martinez serves as Milieu Manager at Sunspire Health Desert Palms, where she ensures that the administrative and clinical policies are being followed to offer patients the best therapeutic environment for healing. Michelle has dedicated her life to guiding people struggling with substance use to recovery and is committed to patient advocacy. She has been in recovery from addiction for sixteen years, is actively involved in sponsorship for 12-Step Self-Help Support groups, and attends seminars for addiction professionals regularly. In addition, Michelle has training in DBT, seeking safety and women's issues in early recovery, and she participates in domestic violence and sexual abuse therapy groups in the area each month. She attended College of the Desert for Drug and Alcohol Studies and graduated from the CCAPP Institute with a certification as an Addiction Specialist.

Nunley Leader

Sarah Nunley, MS, LMFT, Ed.D- Clinical Director

Sarah Nunley brings 15 years of clinical experience and her vast knowledge of PTSD and sexual trauma therapies to her role as Clinical Director at Sunspire Health Desert Palms. Sarah has a passion for leading people and creating innovative clinical programming that inspires effective treatment and overall wellness for the people she has the privilege of serving. She has provided clinical leadership and implemented treatment programs for military, law enforcement, as well as county and city government mental health agencies in southern California. Having served in the military and as a community crisis responder, she has a passion for working within the areas of attachment and trauma.

Sarah received a bachelor's degree in psychology from California State San Bernardino and a master's degree in Marital and Family Therapy at Loma Linda University before earning a doctorate in counseling psychology for licensure. She is fully certificated as a Clinical Mediator for the State of California and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

Delegatto Leader

Tom Delegatto, MA, CADC- Executive Director

Tom Delegatto serves as the Executive Director at Sunspire Health Heartland. He is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and has over twenty-five years of experience in the addiction treatment field. Before coming to Sunspire Health, Tom worked as the Corporate Director of Business Development for the Gateway Foundation, as the Chief Operating Officer for Hartgrove Hospital in Chicago, and as the Director of Business Development and Managed Care Contracting for Chicago Lakeshore Hospital, where he played a significant role in increasing admissions, successfully negotiating for increased rates and adding new hospital services. Tom also served as the Director of Business Development for Linden Oaks Hospital and was a key contributor to the hospital's growth as a regional provider of behavioral health services. He also worked with Hazelden Foundation as the Associate Clinical Director for Adolescent Services in Chicago. With his breadth of experience as a leading healthcare executive in Illinois, he looks forward to overseeing the daily operations and programs of Sunspire Health Heartland.

Pisco Leader

Michael Pisco, MA, LMFT, MATS- Clinical Director

Michael Pisco is excited to bring his extensive knowledge in the areas of Clinical Psychology and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) to Sunspire Health Heartland as the Clinical Director. With more than a decade working in the field of behavioral health, Michael is experienced with evidence-based treatments and with utilizing detox medications and protocols for opioid, alcohol and benzodiazepine dependence. He has an individualized treatment approach that focuses on the needs and goals of each individual over the course of treatment. While studying at Manhattan College, Michael held a clinical internship with New York Presbyterian Hospital working with acute schizophrenic and bipolar patients. During this time, he also conducted original research on adolescent drunk driving and was a Victim Impact Panelist Speaker for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). Michael holds a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He is currently a Clinical Fellow for the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, (AAMFT).

Carolyn Truelove, MA, LCPC- Primary Therapist

Carolyn Truelove has a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She has a background working in the fields of mental health, addiction, domestic violence, families of at-risk youth and corrections. Carolyn is passionate about inspiring and guiding patients to overcome personal obstacles, so they can aspire to be their personal best and move toward fulfilling and satisfying lives in recovery.

Schultz Leader

Nichole "Nikki" Schultz, MHS, CADC, MAC- Director of Admissions

Nichole Schultz is the Director of Admissions at Sunspire Health Heartland where she is responsible for coordinating with multiple departments to ensure new patients are warmly welcomed to the facility and receive the best possible care during their stay. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in health sciences with a concentration in addiction studies. She is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC), and working to obtain her Master's Addiction Counselor (MAC) Certificate. Prior to joining the Sunspire Health family, she worked as a substance abuse counselor in many different settings, from privately owned facilities to juvenile correctional facilities. She is passionate about helping individuals affected by addiction.

McCormick Leader

Virginia McCormick, MA- Case Manager & Discharge Planner

Virginia McCormick is the case manager and discharge planner at Sunspire Health Heartland, responsible for overseeing the care and progress of patients throughout their treatment while developing individualized post-treatment plans. She received a master's degree in professional counseling from Olivet University in Bourbonnais, IL and has a background in behavioral health with experience working with individuals in crisis in the mental health field. Prior to joining Sunspire Health Heartland she worked as an addiction therapist and facilitated groups in IOP environments. She is eager to bring her experience to Sunspire Health Heartland as the case manager to help patients progress during treatment and continue to lead lives in recovery.

Cotter Leader

Brittany Cotter- Milieu Manager

Brittany Cotter is the Milieu Manager at Sunspire Health Heartland in charge of motivating the patients throughout treatment, assisting in crisis management and behavioral problems and overseeing the safety of patients throughout treatment. Britney received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and immediately began working with people affected by substance use disorders. For almost 4 years she has worked with patients with substance use disorders and has developed a love for working with patients as they grow and recover their lives before her eyes.

Martin Leader

Britney Martin- Administrative Assistant

Britney Martin is the administrative assistant for Sunspire Health Heartland. She has over 12 years of experience in the medical field, most recently as the clinical coordinator for an orthopedic hand surgeon, which entailed organizing surgical and clinical schedules, medical coding and managing all clinical aspects of the office. Additionally, Britney holds an EMT certification, a medical lab assistant certification and has over 10 years of experience as a phlebotomist. She has enthusiasm for problem solving and patient advocacy.

Loy Leader

Melisa Loy, RN- Registered Nurse

Melisa Loy is a nurse at Sunspire Health Heartland and is dedicated to providing the best care and support to her patients. Prior to joining the Sunspire Health Heartland family, she was the Director of Nursing for seven years at an outpatient community mental health center. She graduated from the Kankakee Community College Registered Nurse Program and is currently working towards her bachelor's degree in psychology from Governor's State University. Melisa works diligently with the patients in support of their recovery.

Weiss Leader

Toni Weiss, RN- Registered Nurse

Toni Weiss is a nurse at Sunspire Heartland. She works with the medical and behavioral teams to assure that the patients at Heartland receive the best support possible to facilitate their journeys to recovery. Toni has previously worked in Public and Community Health and most recently with Individuals having developmental, physical and psychiatric challenges. She is passionate about educating patients and providing them with knowledge they can use to become and remain healthy in recovery.

Hatcher Leader

Denise Hatcher- Director of Operations

Denise Hatcher, Director of Operations, manages the facility's day to day operations including housekeeping, maintenance and dietary. Denise brings 27 years of hospitality and hotel management experience to the role. Denise served as the General Manager of the Main Street Inn & Spa for seven years, Sunspire Health Hilton Head's previous occupancy. Denise has a wealth of knowledge in property management, and the 27 years of her residing on the island provides tremendous support to the program's local needs. Denise is certified as a behavioral interviewer and is trained in Six Sigma.

Benko Leader

Patty Benko, BSN- Director of Admissions

Patti Benko brings thirty years of experience as an RN to her role as Director of Admissions. Patti is often one of the first onsite staff that patients and their family's meet. She is responsible for admitting patients to the program, and providing a caring, compassionate and thoughtful transition for patients as they arrive for residential care. Patti ensures that each patient is prepared to begin a robust clinical program as soon after their arrival as possible.

Shaunnessy Leader

Ellen Shaunnessy- Director of Clinical Outreach

Ellen Shaunnessy is the Director of Clinical Outreach for Sunspire Health Hilton Head. She graduated from The University of Georgia with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics. Following the completion of her undergraduate degree, Ellen went on to receive her Master's Degree in Health Services Administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ellen's diverse professional background includes experience in a variety of service lines within the healthcare industry. For the last four years, she has worked in mental health and substance abuse treatment field. Prior to joining Sunspire Health, Ellen served as the Director of Business Development for Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center in Ball Ground, Georgia.
Srivastava Leader

Ravi Srivastava, MD, FAPA, FASAM- Medical Director

Dr. Ravi Srivastava, Medical Director of Sunspire Health Hilton Head, is passionate about treating the life threatening, chronic, relapsing disease of addiction. He is committed to incorporating the latest scientifically proven methods to successfully manage this disease. Under his leadership, Hilton Head's team of professionals strive to deliver the highest quality evidence-based behavioral and medical interventions. His mission is to succeed in the battle against addiction and co-occurring disorders.

Dr. Srivastava is an addictionologist, a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine in addition to being a Board Certified psychiatrist and a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. After getting his medical and psychiatric training from the King George's Medical College in India, he completed his residency in psychiatry at Albany Medical College in New York. He has worked in the public sector in the state of Georgia as Medical Director for Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Disabilities for several years prior to starting his addiction and psychiatric practice on Hilton Head Island, SC in 2003.

Bell Leader

Rachael Bell, MSCP, MSHP, LCP- Clinical Director

Rachael Bell is a licensed professional counselor currently working on her doctorate in Clinical Psychology and who has completed Masters Degrees in both Clinical Psychology and Health Psychology from the royal University of Leiden in the Netherlands. Rachael has a great deal of experience counseling in psychiatric facilities and private practice, helping clients of all ages overcome anxiety, depression, PTSD, Bipolar, sexual addictions, drug/alcohol addiction and other psychological challenges. She also developed various treatment programs. Much of Rachael's success as a program developer and counselor is attributed to her work as a criminologist at CourtTV/TruTV, where she researched and authored articles on high profile criminal cases and where she obtained great insight into the extremes of human behavior. Rachael recently had the pleasure working as a Primary Counselor at Sunspire Health Hilton Head.

Blakely Leader

Janice Blakely- Program Manager

Janice Blakely has been working in the field of Addictions for over 25 years in both private and state programs. She has worked as an Addictions Counselor and Program Manager in both in-patient and out-patient settings, beginning at Willlingway Hospital in Statesboro, Ga. in 1988. After leaving Willingway Hospital, she continued to work as an in-patient addictions counselor at Memorial Medical's Clark Behavioral Health Center. While employed at Memorial Medical Center, she also worked at Recovery Place of Savannah and Tidelands CSB SAOP as an out-patient counselor. In 2002, she became the Director of Counseling for Southern Crescent Health, a private company providing counseling services for the Multi-Offender DUI Program for the State of Georgia; Dept. of Corrections, Parole and Probation; the Savannah Impact Program; and local law enforcement. In 2004, Janice joined Pinelands as the Program Manager for SAIOP. In 2006, she became the Program Manager for all SAOP services in Bulloch County Ga. In 2015, Janice joined the Sunspire Hilton Head team as the Program Manager and Sunspire is proud to have her knowledge and experience as a part of our team.

Jeremy Tankersley- Dietary Manager

Chef Jeremy Tankersley is a graduate of the Southeast Institute of Culinary Arts in ST. Augustine, FL. His passion for cooking began at a very young age and he has been in the restaurant industry since 1992.

Chef Jeremy Tankersley is a graduate of the Southeast Institute of Culinary Arts in ST. Augustine, FL. His passion for cooking began at a very young age and he has been in the restaurant industry since 1992. He has experience in many aspects of the field which include being a pastry chef, sous chef, caterer, ice sculptor and event planner. Larry Campbell- Discharge Planner, Utilization Review

Larry Campbell is a Case Manager and Utilization Review Specialist at Sunspire Health Hilton Head. Larry comes to Sunspire with 12 years of experience working with clients with mental health and substance use disorders. Larry earned his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Psychology from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, GA. Prior to coming to Sunspire he worked as a case manager with Coastal Harbor Treatment Center in Savannah, GA. During his time there, Larry was responsible for scheduling family visits as well as client home visits, multidisciplinary meetings with local and outside agencies, discharge planning, making aftercare arrangements and return travel arrangements for all clients assigned.

LaPointe Leader

Danielle LaPointe, LPC- Executive Director

Danielle R. LaPointe, LPC, is currently the Clinical Director of Sunspire Health Hilton Head. She oversees a team of clinicians who provide quality care to patients at a residential level. Danielle has a decade of experience working with individuals who have a substance use disorders. In addition to her specialty, Danielle is also experienced in eating disorders and process addictions. Danielle has a history working with the judicial system to provide services to individuals who need behavioral health treatment in lieu of incarceration. Programs that she has managed help cut-down on criminal recidivism by providing long-term solutions. Prior to working with the courts, she counseled students at Savannah College of Art and Design. With this broad-range of experience, Danielle is clinically savvy and finds it easy to quickly adapt to a client's needs. She tends to use CBT, DBT, SFT, EFT and MI as primary techniques to help people accomplish their therapeutic goals. Danielle received her bachelor's in psychology from the University of South Carolina and her master's in counseling from Liberty University.

Rothert Leader

Sonny Rothert- Lead Recovery Technician

Sonny Rothert attended Bible College, in Springfield Missouri, where he earned a bachelor's degree in theology. He has had the good fortune to be a resident of Hilton Head Island for the last twenty four years. Sonny recently came on board with Sunspire Health as a Lead Recovery Tech. He has a real passion for helping people deal with substance abuse issues and Sunspire is fortunate to have Sonny as a member of the team.

Lane Leader

Phillip Lane, Jr- Lead Behavioral Health Technician

Phillip Lane, Jr. is the lead behavioral health technician, providing integral support and care for the patients. In this role, he works closely with each patient to ensure they are meeting the demands of the clinical program devised to support their journey to recovery. Philip has been working in the residential care field for 7 years. His experience includes working as a mental health assistant and senior counselor at Coastal Harbor Treatment Center. Following those roles, Phillip worked a substitute teacher in the Ombudsman program, an alternative school program providing kids the opportunity to complete course work and return to their respective schools in the area.

Falk Leader

Caroline Falk- Primary Therapist

Caroline Falk received her Master's Degree in Counselor Education at Georgia Southern University. She completed her internship at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. Her overwhelmingly positive experience at SCAD Counseling and Student Support Services provided Carly with exposure to professional counseling in a fast-paced, diverse, and dynamic environment. She was able to gain experience in providing students with individual and group psychotherapy, disability accommodations, and crisis intervention in a college counseling center setting. Her experiences also included eating disorder assessment and treatment, psychodiagnostic and behavioral assessments, and administrative support services.

Carly's theoretical orientation is predominately existential, humanistic, and feminist. She heavily utilizes CBT, ACT, and DBT techniques in her work. It is Carly's hope to encourage, empower, and challenge my clients to own their personal stories of overcoming. Sunspire is proud to have Carly as a dynamic member of the clinical team.

Bear - Family Therapist

Bear is our facility's ten year old certified therapy dog. He specializes in offering affection, comfort, and entertainment during patients stay. When he is not working, Bear enjoys running, taking up all the space on the couch, and hanging out with his other furry buds. Bear loves his work and living on the property.

Alina Klein, MBA- Director of Admissions

Alina Klein handles many of the critical daily functions that enable Sunspire Health Hyde Park to run smoothly. She schedules patient therapy sessions, handles admissions inquiries, and works with the executive director and the director of admissions to devise and implement new policies and procedures for the facility. Alina has more than six years of administrative and managerial experience, having worked as program manager for the Education Foundation of Sarasota and intake coordinator for the Coastal Behavioral Healthcare Juvenile Assessment Center. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of South Florida.

Mullins Overman Leader

Susan Mullins Overman, MA, LMHC, TEP- Group Therapist

Susan Mullins Overman brings more than 20 years of professional counseling expertise to her role as primary therapist for Hyde Park Counseling Center. She specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, substance abuse, trauma, and co-occurring disorders, and is experienced in the use of breakthrough therapies like psychodrama and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Susan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Franklin & Marshall College and her Master of Arts degree in rehabilitation and mental health counseling from the University of South Florida. She is a member of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama (ASGPP), the Suncoast Mental Health Counselors Association (SMHCA), and the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals Foundation (IAEDP). She is also past president of the Tampa Bay Association of Women Psychotherapists, Inc.

Jenifer Mazer- Director of Admissions

Jenifer Mazer is the Director of Admissions for Sunspire Health Recovery Road, responsible for coordinating with multiple departments to ensure new patients are warmly welcomed to the facility and receive the best possible care during their stay. Jenifer has been an active member of the recovery community sharing her experience and peer support as group facilitator during recovery based groups and 12 step meetings. She is also instrumental in guiding patients through the admissions and orientation process. Jenifer began her career with Sunspire Health as a Senior Admissions Coordinator for Sunspire Health's call center. Jenifer offers a powerful message of hope as well as a wealth of experiential knowledge for our patients and our staff.

Salinger Leader

Raymond Salinger- Director of Operations

As resident manager of Sunspire Health Recovery Road, Raymond Salinger supervises patients and technicians, handles intakes and conducts UAs. He is responsible for the complete care and well-being of the patients while they are living at the residence. Raymond maintains open communication lines with facility staff, attending clinicians, physicians, patients and families. He also engages with community agencies, vendors and payers of health services. Prior to joining us at Recovery Road, he worked as a resident manager at Prosperity Palms.

Moser Leader

Debra Moser- Program Nurse

Debra Moser, RN, works to keep Sunspire Health Recovery Road's patients medically and mentally stable. As director of nursing, she oversees the nursing staff, is responsible for the nursing assessment plan, and oversees the medical and psychiatric management of patients with attending physicians. Prior to joining Sunspire Health Recovery Road, Debra managed a 107-bed psychiatric unit at the Palm Beach County Detention Center, where she was Assistant Administrator and Director of Nursing for seven years. Debra earned her degree at New York State University American Credentialing Center for Nurses. She is Board Certified in psychiatric and mental health nursing.

Steinman Leader

Dillon Steinman, LMHC- Group Therapist

Dillon Steinman is the group therapist at Sunspire Health Recovery Road, where he helps patients build a sense of trust within the group so that they can safely explore the challenges they face in life. He brings 10 years of experience in leading individual, family, and group therapy for clients with trauma, addiction, and relationship issues. He also led individual and group therapy for those in detox and residential and outpatient settings. Dillon received his Masters of Science in counseling psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Kelly Leader

Rebecca Kelly, LPN- UR Coordinator/Case Manager

Rebecca Kelly's role as r makes her instrumental to retrieving, tracking, and forwarding daily patient health information. Rebecca also communicates and schedules upcoming reviews with treatment team and facilitate case management activities with clients. In this role, Rebecca assists clients with legal issues, employment and FMLA issues, educational issues, coordinating referral appointments, organizing discharge and aftercare planning, and conducting psycho-educational groups. She brings 12 years of experience to Recovery Road along with prior experience performing utilization reviews, chart auditing for compliance and efficiency, assisting to maintain quality of care, and education to peer staff.

Cathy Colet, PysD- Group Facilitator

Cathy Colet is a group facilitator at Sunspire Health Recovery Road, where she helps patients build trust in the group and discuss issues such as grief, loss, and anger. She has past experience with a variety of mental health interventions, including substance abuse, anger management, crisis intervention, social and communication skills, trauma, coping strategies, relaxation techniques, and problem solving skills. She received her Bachelors of Science in psychology from Florida Atlantic University and earned her doctorate in clinical and forensic psychology from Carlos Albizu University in Miami, Fla. Cathy also specializes in an array of psychological/forensic evaluations, such as psychological assessment of mitigating factors, child/adult psychological, psychosexual/sexual behavior specific evaluations, risk assessments, competence and sanity evaluations, and psycho-educational assessments.

Daniel Lewis- Acupuncture Physician

As an acupuncture physician, Daniel Lewis, M.S., NADA, administers herbal medicine and acupuncture, which helps patients at Sunspire Health Recovery Road deal with cravings, detox symptoms, anxiety, irritation, frustration, anger, depression, pain and insomnia. Prior to joining us, Daniel ran his own company, Integrated Oriental Medicine, for 13 years. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in health sciences and his Master of Science degree in Oriental medicine from the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Daniel is a licensed acupuncture physician, and is nationally board certified in acupuncture and Chinese herbology. He is certified from the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA).

Karen Gauci- Nutritionist

Nutritionist Karen Gauci, M.P.H., brings her 25 years of experience as a dietician to our team. As the owner of 2001 Nutrition Services, she currently works for 56 facilities, including Recovery Road. For 20 years, Karen has also served as adjunct professor at HARID Conservatory Ballet School. Focusing on health promotion and disease prevention, she strives to improve the overall health and well-being of patients, giving them the proper nutrition to effectively maintain sobriety. A registered and licensed dietician, Karen earned a Master of Science in public health from Florida International University in Miami, with an undergraduate focus on dietetics and nutrition.

Johnson Leader

Jayne Johnson- Trauma Specialist

Jayne Johnson, M.Ed., CRTRT, CAP, CSAC, CH, brings more than 20 years of wellness experience to Sunspire Health Recovery Road, where she has worked as a trauma specialist for the past four years. Prior to joining Recovery Road, Jayne was the Center for Women's Recovery program director at Hanley-Hazelden for 11 years. Previously, Jane worked in different centers in a variety of capacities, including as therapist and head of outpatient services. Jayne was a school teacher for seven years prior to beginning her career as a therapist. In addition to being a Certified Rapid Trauma Resolution Therapist (CRTRT), Jayne is also certified as an addictions professional (CAP), a sex addictions counselor (CSAC) and a hypnotherapist (CH). He belongs to the International Consortium A&D Counselors (ICADC) and the National Council on Compulsive Gambling (NCCG). Jayne earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Furman University in Greenville, S.C., and a Master of Education degree at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.

Catherine Rich- Art Therapist

Catherine Rich, B.A., encourages our patients to use art media and their inner creativity to express thoughts and feelings in a non-confrontational manner. This type of therapy allows patients to explore their feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, manage their behavior, reduce anxiety and increase self-esteem. Rich is the founder and owner of Art Affects, an organization dedicated to spreading knowledge and appreciation of art, through which she conducts art therapy sessions at Sunspire Health Recovery Road. Prior to Recovery Road, Catherine spent several years working for a number of non-profit organizations. During that time, she was able to see the therapeutic benefits of using discussion-based art workshops for individuals with chronic and terminal illnesses, survivors of domestic and sexual violence, homeless people and at-risk youth. She attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., where she studied fine arts. She later went on to pursue a career in human services, supplemented by her continued education in counseling at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va.

Deborah Smith, NCGC II- Primary Therapist

Deborah Smith hails from Indiana where she enjoyed a successful career in addiction treatment for more than twenty years. As Primary Therapist, Deborah provides clinical treatment for patients in both individual and group settings. She collaborates with a team of therapists to assess, develop and offer clinical interventions that best suit each patient’s needs. Deborah sees all of the patients suffering from gambling disorder and works closely with the discharge planner to ensure each individual is set up with a post-treatment plan that supports their life in long-term recovery.

Doris Carroll- Spiritual Counselor

Doris Carroll, M.S., LMHC, CAP, CPP, ICADC, SRAS, is spiritual counselor at Sunspire Health Recovery Road, where she conducts assessments using a nondenominational worldview model. She previously served as the clinical director and executive director for Partnership for a Drug-Free Community of South Florida. Doris earned her Bachelor of Science in ministry and Master of Science in counseling psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University. She specializes in the positive psychology of the 12-Steps and integration of spiritual values and recovery.

Rabbi Moshe Cheplowitz- Spiritual Advisor

As spiritual advisor at Sunspire Health Recovery Road, Rabbi Moshe Cheplowitz offers counseling and guidance as it pertains to recovery. Prior to joining the team at Recovery Road, he was a teacher and assistant principal at several Jewish educational facilities; head of school at the Hebrew Academy of Palm Beach; and director of Gardens Jewish Experience. Rabbi Moshe earned his Rabbinic ordination and degree in Talmudic theory from the Rabbinical Seminary of America.

Cynthia Reinbach, M.S.- Executive Director

Cynthia Reinbach, Executive Director of Sunspire Health Astoria Pointe and Sunspire Health The Rosebriar, brings 29 years of well-rounded and diverse executive management experience, specializing in psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment. Prior to this role, Cynthia served as VP of Clinical Services for CRC Health group, and VP of Operations for eGetgoing (a division of CRC) for 15 years, overseeing all aspects of counseling services and product development. She also worked as Executive Director, and Chief Clinical Officer in treatment programs throughout California. Her passion and focus is helping individuals and families living with the disease of chemical dependency. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Master of Science in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from San Jose State University.

Merle Williamson, MD- Medical Director

Rd. Merle Williamson is an addiction medicine specialist with three decades in practice. As Sunspire Health Astoria Pointe's Medical Director, he oversees the medically supervised detoxification and treatment programs to ensure they meet or exceed the most rigorous clinical standards. Rd. Williamson received his medical degree from the Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine, and completed his residency at the University of Connecticut.

Horey Leader

Jonathan Horey, MD- Chief Medical Officer

As CMO, Dr. Jonathan Horey serves as the steward of Sunspire Health's treatment method. In this role, he ensures each client receives the highest quality clinical care, using holistic, evidence and abstinence-based therapies, supported by medication assisted treatment, across all facilities nationwide.

After graduating medical school at Columbia University in New York City, Dr. Horey worked as an attending psychiatrist at a dual diagnosis inpatient unit at New York Presbyterian Hospital and at a dual diagnosis intensive outpatient program for Columbia University. He then became the Medical Director of Addiction Services at the Columbia University West 51st Street Clinic and maintained a private practice focused on addiction. He also served as a psychiatrist at Hazelden Springbrook, an addiction treatment facility in Portland before joining the Sunspire Health executive team.

In addition to his role with the executive team, Dr. Horey serves clients at Sunspire's Astoria Pointe and The Rosebriar facilities, maintains a small private practice in Portland and is in psychoanalytic training at the Oregon Psychoanalytic Institute.

Christine Scott- Human Resources/Finance Coordinator

Christine Scott brings nearly 10 years of financial experience to her position as Finance Coordinator at Astoria Pointe. In this role, she streamlines the payment process for our patients, making sure that all insurance paperwork is processed quickly and efficiently.

Warnecke Leader

Courtney Warnecke- Director of Operations

As Director of Operations for Sunspire Health Astoria Pointe and Sunspire Health The Rosebriar, Courtney oversees housekeeping, maintenance, nutritional services and human resources. Courtney Warnecke began her healthcare career over a decade ago in special projects. In this role, she partnered with OHSU to bring specialty services, to the coast. These services included a Women's Center, Orthopedics, Cardiology Clinic, and a Cancer and Infusion Center. Outside of the office, she is completing her Psychology degree, specializing in Addiction, volunteers with at risk youth, is very active in the community and is the mother to three teenagers.

McNett Leader

Mike McNett- Director of Nursing

As Director of Nursing for Sunspire Health Astoria Pointe and Sunspire Health The Rosebriar, Michael brings a wealth of experience to the role. Michael was raised in the Eugene, Oregon area, and graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in Mass Communication. He later earned an associate degree in Nursing from Lane Community College in Eugene. After working in the field for several years, Mike obtained a BS in Anesthesiology. Following a 25 year career as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with Kaiser Permanente, he became interested in the field of Recovery Medicine and obtained a position with Sunspire Health. Michael's love and passion for the work that is done for our patients is evident is all that he does. In his own words, "Working on the floor, sharing the hopefulness that comes with recovery, is why I show up for work every day." In his non-work time he is an avid guitar player, loves music, and motorcycles. He also has a really great (dry) sense of humor that he uses when he works with his patient that brings an overall great spirit to the facility.

Eric Ekberg, MBA, CADC, LADC- Executive Director

As Executive Director at Sunspire Health Spring Hill, Eric Ekberg has over 12 years of experience in the addiction treatment field. He most recently served as director for an outpatient treatment facility specializing in opioid dependence and has also worked as director for a long-term inpatient addiction treatment facility. Prior to his experience in addiction treatment, Eric spent over 16 years in the investment management business. As a certified and licensed substance abuse counselor, Eric is passionate about helping those affected by substance use disorders.

Sanchez-Samper Leader

Ximena Sanchez-Samper, MD- Medical Director & Psychiatrist

Ximena Sanchez-Samper, MD, Medical Director of Sunspire Health Spring Hill is a Board-Certified Addictions Psychiatrist. Dr. Sanchez-Samper trained at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester , MN) and completed her Addictions Fellowship through Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in 2004. After working with adolescents and young adults (and their families) with Substance Use Disorders at Children's Hospital Boston for many years, she transferred to McLean Hospital where she is currently the Medical Director at one of one of their Residential Programs. Dr. Sanchez-Samper is an advocate of incorporating Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) into the comprehensive care of patients struggling with Alcohol and Opioid Use Disorders and has been prescribing Buprenorphine(Suboxone) since obtaining her waiver in 2003. She co-authored both a book chapter (Opioid Use by Adolescents. Handbook of Office-Based Buprenorphine Treatment of Opioid Dependence.2011) and published an article in a peer review journal (Adolescent Substance Abuse. General Considerations. Pediatrics in Review. 2009) addressing the needs of patients struggling with addiction and its aftermath. Dr Sanchez-Samper is an Instructor at Harvard Medical School and enjoys lecturing nationwide on Substance Use Disorders identification, diagnosis and treatment.

McRae Leader

Robin McRae- Director of Operations

As Director of Operations for Sunspire Health Spring Hill, Robin McRae oversees day-to-day operations including housekeeping, maintenance, transportation and nutritional services. After graduating from the Massachusetts Municipal Police Academy in 1995, she spent several years working as a police officer for the local municipalities. Following her service on the police force, Robin worked several years in a hospital setting on the transitional care unit, managing patient admissions and discharges. She also spent more than 15 years in the ambulatory primary care setting for non-profit community health centers, serving as the applications and data manager. Her role included overseeing data analysis, the informatics team, federal and state grants and implementation and support of electronic health records.

Cindy Kelly- Director of Admissions

As the Director of Admissions, Cindy Kelly is the first to meet many of Spring Hill's patients and their family members. In this role, Cindy supports everyone who seeks treatment at Spring Hill. Prior to joining Spring Hill, Cindy was Director of Marketing and Admissions at Gould Farm, a residential therapeutic community for adults with mental illness. She also served as Program and Marketing Director for the non-profit IS183 Art School in the Berkshires. Cindy has her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from SUNY Oneonta.

Meacham Leader

Stacie Meacham- Director of Utilization Review

Stacie Meacham brings to Sunspire Health Spring Hill over 10 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She is responsible performing reviews of assigned patients to evaluate the medical necessities and level of care based on ASAM criteria and standards. Prior to joining Spring Hill, she was a community residence director at Wild Acre Inns, a mental health residential treatment in Massachusetts. Stacie holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and a master's degree in counseling psychology from Framingham State University.

Davin Leader

Deborah Davin- Intake Specialist

Deborah spent the last 30 years working in various administrative and sales roles in the information technology industry. Her passion for helping others led her career in a new direction, working in addiction recovery. As recovery technician she supports patient recovery efforts by implementing clinical services according to treatment plans developed by counselors and other health professionals. She manages and observes patient self-administration of medications and assists clients with meal preparation and routine household chores .While fulfilling these important roles as a recovery technician, Deborah is working toward her Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) certification, so she can provide even more specialized services to our patients.

DiReda Leader

James DiReda- Clinical Consultant

James DiReda has devoted nearly 30 years of his life to the treatment of addictive disorders. As Clinical Consultant, he performs a comprehensive clinical evaluation of each patient who arrive at Sunspire Health Spring Hill, ensuring that they receive the specialized care they need. James also supervises clinical staff, holding them to the highest medical standards. Prior to joining Spring Hill, James worked as Regional Supervisor at Magellan Behavioral Health. He has also held roles as Clinical Director of AdCare Hospital, and Clinician at McLean Hospital. James holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Worcester State University, a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Connecticut, and a PhD from Boston University.

George Leader

Amy George- Director of Clinical Outreach

Amy George is the regional Director of Clinical Outreach for Sunspire Health Spring Hill. Having worked in addiction treatment for the past several years, she is committed to assisting families, communities, and other service providers in their quest to build support networks to connect to quality care. Prior to joining Sunspire Health, Amy worked in business development and marketing and has spent most of her career in the behavioral and mental health field, coordinating and directing various social and mental health programs. She has worked to develop empowerment-based programming for adolescents, including "You Go Girl" and "Girl M. Power", and has built solid relationships with local providers and community resources. Amy has been a participant on many Massachusetts task forces and committees with a focus on addiction awareness and treatment

Peterson Leader

Andrew Peterson- Lead Recovery Tech

Andrew G. Peterson is the Lead Recovery Tech at Sunspire Health Spring Hill, assisting, guiding, and supporting patients through the recovery process. Andrews has 12 years of experience from various facilities, with his first 10 years spent at a residential treatment facility for adolescent boys. In that role, he worked in an administrative position, including that of program director. He was also a substance abuse counselor at the Massachusetts Alcohol and Substance Abuse Center in Bridgewater, Mass. Andrew received his Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire and is certified in crisis prevention intervention, adult CPR, basic first aid, and water safety.

Kallio Leader

Kyle Kallio- Lead Recovery Technician

Kyle Kallio brings to Spring Hill Recovery over 20 years of holistic healing experience. As a recovery technician he is actively involved in the day to day efforts to direct each of our guests towards a successful treatment plan including guiding them in the admissions process, assuring group attendance, leading recreational activities and supporting counselors and health professionals in executing treatment plans. Prior to joining the Spring Hill Recovery team he was a community resident counselor at The Mclean center at Fernside - McLean Hospital in Princeton, Massachusetts. Kyle is currently pursuing his CADAC certification from Westfield State College in Westfield, Massachusetts.

Dembowski Leader

Michele Dembowski- Recovery Technician

Michele Dembowski brings more than 15 years of administrative experience to her role as Recovery Technician at Spring Hill Recovery. In addition to serving in several admissions and human resources capacities, Michele also assists with Equine Therapy and client activities. Previously, Michele was an office manager and human resources professional at Case Mix Analysis. She received her paralegal certification from Becker College in Worcester.

Margo Voskanian, Lic.Ac., Dipl.Om.- Acupuncturist

Margo Voskanian is a diplomat of oriental medicine (Dipl. Om.) as well as a licensed acupuncturist (Lic. Ac.). She uses Dr. Tan's Balance Method and Master Tung's Acupuncture techniques to help clients with pain management, digestion and nutrition, and immune support. She became fully committed to balancing the body using holistic and integrative medicine after a personal experience left her in pain. Now, she devotes several hours a week to learning more about the body and mind and associated treatment. Margo is the current owner and acupuncturist of Silver Leaf Acupuncture in Southborough, Mass. and earned her master's degree in acupuncture and oriental medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture in Newton, Mass.
