Caron to Sell Texas Treatment Operations
Sale supports Caron's New Strategic Plan which focuses on Treatment Innovation and Outcomes Wernersville, Pennsylvania. (July 30, 2015) - Caron Treatment Centers announced an agreement today in which Sunspire Health will acquire Caron's 40-bed residential treatment operations in Princeton, Texas. The sale was prompted by Caron's new strategic plan of expanding its Pennsylvania and Florida facilities, and which focuses on unparalleled innovation, leading medical and technological tools, proven patient outcomes and personalized behavioral health care solutions.
A critical component of that expansion in Pennsylvania will be Caron's $10 Million Carole and Ray Neag Medical Center, which will break ground in spring of 2016. The state-of-the-art center will support the expansion of treatment for seniors and addiction, chronic pain and brain health initiatives as well as overarching medical care.
"With our newly designed strategic plan, Caron is charting a future course in its established communities in the northeast and southeast regions that will allow for increased accessibility to lifesaving and life- changing treatment services," said Doug Tieman, President and CEO of Caron. "While this means it will no longer have a presence in Texas, we are thrilled to be 'handing over the reigns' to a quality treatment facility like Sunspire Health, whose mission and vision are in alignment with Caron's. We look forward to working with Sunspire Health on a seamless transition for our patients and employees, and wish them continued success in Texas."
Similar to Caron, Sunspire Health offers abstinence-, evidence- and experiential-based treatment for those suffering with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health disorders, eating disorders, problem gambling and sex addiction. Sunspire Health is headquartered in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, and currently includes six licensed residential treatment facilities located in California, Florida, Massachusetts and Oregon, with new facilities opening on Hilton Head Island, SC, in Gilman, IL and Key Largo, FL in 2015.
"Building upon Caron's reputation and proven track record of excellence, we look forward to continuing to address the treatment needs in the state of Texas, an underserved market with the lowest addiction treatment capacity in the nation," said A.J. Schreiber, CEO of Sunspire Health. "Sunspire Health's clinical and personalized approach has helped thousands of people achieve lasting sobriety, and we are eager to bring our proven model of treatment to the region."
