Sunspire Health and The Meadows Behavioral Health Together, Facing The National Addiction Crisis

Lyndhurst, N.J. – November 18, 2016 – Sunspire Health, a leader in the treatment of addictive disorders, today announced in support of its mission to promote awareness, advocacy, and clinical and medical treatment, that together with The Meadows Behavioral Health - companies both owned by Alita Care – were invited to attend Viacom's launch of Listen: Facing Addiction in America," a national PSA produced in partnership with Ad Council.

“Listen,” a campaign that begins with a 30-minute commercial free television special on Friday, November 18 is designed to spark a national conversation about addiction, and provides direction for resources for those suffering with and affected by addiction.

Surgeon General Vice Admiral (VADM) Vivek H. Murthy, MD, MBA; Sean Walsh, CEO of Meadows Behavioral Health; Chris Diamond, CEO of Sunspire Health, and Scott Ward, Regional Director of Operations of Sunspire Health attended the event. According to the Surgeon General, 1 in 7 Americans will face addiction in their lifetime. His call to action asks the country to shift its thinking of addiction, dispel the myths, stop the shame and stigma, and to acknowledge that we are facing a widespread epidemic that requires immediate attention. The crisis also has a huge economic impact, costing the country more than $442 billion dollars annually.

Taped at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, C.A., Listen: Facing Addiction in America is the work of the non-profit Facing Addiction, and hosted by Dr. Drew Pinsky and MTV News senior correspondent Ana Marie Cox. This campaign coincides with the first-ever U.S. Surgeon General report on alcohol, drugs, and health, and features the celebrity musicians, athletes as well as leading advocates and Americans who have been impacted by addiction.

Sunspire Health and The Meadows Behavioral Health provide treatment for individuals and families affected by substance use and co-occurring disorders. At the core of the treatment models, both organizations provide clinical and medical treatment that seek to treat the whole person by addressing the underlying causes of the addiction, identifying the triggers, and by developing an individualized course of treatment for each person to help provide the tools for long-term recovery. Understood as a chronic illness, the full continuum of care offered includes outpatient care, and comprehensive alumni services after the successful completion of inpatient treatment.
